Details


Admissions to the BSc Industrial Engineering and Management at this institute takes place once a year for fall semester. The following admission criteria are adopted:

  1. The applicant must have taken entry test.

  2. Applicant must be domiciled in Punjab

  3. Applicant must have passed F.Sc. (Pre-engineering) or equivalent examination in defined time period with minimum 60% marks.

  4. The age limit for admission on F.Sc. basis is 24 years.

  5. 30% weightage is given to pre-admission entry test conducted by UET, Lahore.

T= [(Marks obtained in Entry Test)/400]×30

Aggregated Marks Percentage = A + T

*20 marks for Hafiz-e-Quran, if applicable, will be included as shown above.

Eligibility for MA/M.Sc or Equivalent:

  1. The candidates holding B.A/B.Sc (14-Years of Education) or equivalent qualification with at least 2nd division and age not more than 26 years are eligible for admission in MA/M.Sc or equivalent/MPA/ MBA/ M.Com/MB Econ/MIM/MIOM/MBSM/LLB (3-Years).

  2. The candidate holding 3rd division is not eligible for admission in MA/MSc.or equivalent program. 2 marks will be deducted from percent academic marks for each late session to a maximum of previous 5 sessions/years for male and female students.

  3. They have to furnish an affidavit to the effect that he/she did not get admission in any Institution in the period intervening between the year of passing the Exam. and year of application for admission.(vide notification No. S.O(C.A)1-28/2015 dated 20th July,2016). 50% seats are reserved for graduates from Punjab University and rest 50% shall be filled on open merit basis.

  4. Pre-admission Entry Test is mandatory for the admission against merit as well as reserved seats if it having candidates by any department. However, foreign/GB/AJK/ KPK/ Sindh and Balochi students are exempted from the entry test.

  5. In case of admission to college of Arts and design the Entry Test and Academic Qualifications weightage shall be as under:
    1. Academic Record : 50%
    2. Entry Test & Interview : 50%

Rules & Regulations:

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION, ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION:
  1. An applicant seeking admission to M.S./M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs shall apply on a prescribed form within the due date given in the advertisement for admission.

  2. The application shall be submitted to the administrative office of the respective Department/ Institute/Centre/College/School in which the student wishes to pursue his/her studies.

  4. The Departmental Doctoral Programe Committee (DPC - Chairman, all Professors & Associate Professors, one senior most Assistant Professor/Lecturer, holding Ph.D. degree) shall scrutinize the applications received for eligibility. In departments where there is no Professor/Associate Professor, Doctoral Program Committee (DPC) will be constituted by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendations of the Dean of the Faculty/Chairperson DPCC. In such cases for the evaluation of synopsis, 2-3 experts will be co-opted.

  5. An applicant shall be judged on the basis of the following criteria for admission:
    • Academic qualifications*- 40 Marks
    • Publications in HEC approved journals - (1 Mark per publication)-05 Marks
    • Professional experience in relevant field - 05 Marks (One Mark for each year for job in the relevant field / as per Departmental preference)
    • Departmental written/entry test (comprehension of the subject, General aptitude for research) 40 Marks
    • Interview -10 Marks

  6. Out of 40 marks reserved for academic qualifications, 40 marks for the departmental admission test and 10 for the interview, minimum 50% are the qualifying marks in each of the category. However, for PhD passing marks in entry test are 70% as per HEC Policy approved by ASRB, in its meeting held on 20.01.2016. That means a candidate must obtain at least 20 marks in the academic qualification (19.1 will be rounded to 20), 20 marks in MPhil entrance test, 28 marks for PhD entrance test and 5 marks in the interview separately to be eligible for the admission.

  7. Only those candidates who qualify the departmental written/entry test [designed by the respective department] will be called for an interview.

  8. The Doctoral Program Committee shall recommend to the Dean of Faculty concerned /Chairperson DPCC for approval of the names of applicants, who are found eligible. The selected candidates shall pay their dues within stipulated time, failing which their admission shall be liable to be cancelled. The DPC/Faculty Council (as the case may be) will approve the title/synopsis (Guidelines for the preparation of synopsis are given in Annex-III). Final approval will be given by the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB).

  9. Foreign Students:

    Efforts be made to attract foreign students around the globe. The University should advertise both on World-Wide Web and through Embassies, posters etc. The admission of foreign students should be processed as under:

    1. A foreign candidate should apply through his/her Home Country's Embassy and Pakistan Mission Abroad office (in case of overseas Pakistani) alongwith TOEFL or IELTS or equivalent with 5.5 score/band, all educational documents and passport etc. However, PU ex-graduates will be exempted from TOEFL or IELTS or equivalent.

    2. A foreign candidate should apply through his/her Home Country's Embassy and Pakistan Mission Abroad office (in case of overseas Pakistani) alongwith TOEFL or IELTS or equivalent with 5.5 score/band, all educational documents and passport etc. However, PU ex-graduates will be exempted from TOEFL or IELTS or equivalent.

    3. The concerned department/institute will send a provisional admission letter to the Registrar and copy to Chairperson DPCC along with HEC proforma of foreign students for clearance of the vetting agencies before joining the program.

    4. The candidate should also pass the entrance test of the concerned institution/admission on arrival or submit GRE International with admission form.

    5. After fulfilling all above requirements the candidate will be allowed to attend classes with a valid visa.

  10. Note: Qualification from Institutions other than the University of the Punjab will be equalized by the Equivalence Committee of the University of the Punjab.
